Founder, COMUNSENS — Creator of T.A.F. Academy
I saw that trainers needed to know this before they ever started. T.A.F. Academy exists so every COMUNSENS trainer builds real command of the muscles and movement they're trusted to work with — before they ever try to guide a client's movements.
Most certifications test whether you can recognize the right answer on a multiple-choice exam, with a reference sheet open beside you. T.A.F. Academy tests something different: whether you actually know the material, cold, with nothing to lean on.
That distinction is the whole point. A trainer who can look up an answer under no pressure isn't the same as a trainer who can recall it instantly while a client is mid-set, asking a real question about a real joint. T.A.F. Academy was built around that distinction — not as another badge to add to a resume, but as a requirement for the kind of command that only comes from actually knowing the body.
The stakes are highest in sports-specific training. There, a trainer isn't just cueing a lift — they're directing an athlete's movement patterns under load, speed, and fatigue. Guide that wrong and the risk isn't a missed rep, it's an injury that follows the athlete onto the field.
That's not because origin/insertion recall is the only way to catch a compensation pattern — experienced trainers read plenty of it through palpation and pattern recognition built over years. But knowing exactly where a muscle starts and ends tells you its line of pull, and its line of pull tells you what it should be doing at a given joint. That's one grounded, repeatable way to reason through what's actually happening in someone's movement — worth having instantly available, not looked up after the fact.

When I first started working with Wayne about a year and a half ago, I was honestly at a pretty low point physically. I had just turned 50, and I remember playing ping pong with some friends and actually getting winded. I could barely get through a game. It was embarrassing, but it was also a wake up call for me that I needed to make a change.
I had tried exercising many times before. I would get motivated, work out for a month or two, and then eventually it would peter out and I would stop. I finally realized that if I wanted to make a lasting change, I needed some help and accountability. That is when I hired Wayne.
It turned out to be one of the best decisions I could have made for myself.
Over the time I have worked with Wayne, I have gotten stronger, more flexible, and built significantly more stamina. I have more energy throughout the day, and I can do things physically that I simply could not do before. More importantly, exercise is no longer something I start and stop. It has become part of my life.
A big reason for that is Wayne himself. He keeps the workouts interesting and constantly changes things up. No two sessions feel exactly the same, so it never becomes monotonous or feels like I am just going through the motions. He knows how to challenge you without making exercise something you dread.
What really separates Wayne from other trainers, though, is how much thought he puts into what he is doing. He does not just have you mindlessly perform exercises. There is a purpose behind what he asks you to do. He connects the mind to the body and incorporates a psychological component into the training that makes you think about your movement, balance, coordination, and what your body is actually doing. It makes the exercises feel much more meaningful than simply lifting weights or counting repetitions. Wayne is extremely knowledgeable, and that comes through in every session.
After I had been training with him for about seven months, my wife decided to join me. The change for her has been just as noticeable. She had dealt with chronic back pain for years, and since working with Wayne, her back pain has either disappeared for long periods or become much more manageable. Exercise has become such an important part of her life that if we take a week off, she is the one saying, "I need to exercise. I need to exercise."
That probably says more than anything else about what Wayne has brought into our lives.
What started for me as an attempt to get myself back into shape has turned into a real lifestyle change for both of us. We are stronger, more active, and feel better physically. I am especially grateful that Wayne helped me get past the cycle I had been in for years of starting an exercise program and eventually giving it up.
A year and a half later, I am still doing it, and I cannot imagine going back to the way I was living before.
Wayne did not just teach me how to exercise. He helped me make fitness a permanent part of my life, and my wife and I are both extremely grateful for what he has done for us.
